The Bottom Line:
I would highly recommend this tv. I think it's a great value for the money. Excellent customer service provided by Phillips.
After research on several other top name brands, I decided to purchase this set because of the overall value. I must say I was a bit skeptical of how good this set was going to be compared to some of the other top mane brands in the 57" series. I owned a Phillips 50" standard set and wanted to upgrade to a widescreen, not having any problems with my other Phillips was a big plus.
I spent two days researching the internet and stores before deciding on this set. I was forturnate enough to have a local store that had a sony 57" on one side and a toshiba 57" on the other. Although it is hard to get a really good picture in the store, it was hard to tell the difference between this set and the other two. My first impression of this TV is it looks great, but that doesn't mean anything if your not happy with the picture. After unpacking and hooking up my dts surround, I placed MIB II in my dvd player, sat down in my recliner and WOW.. I have to say I was even more impressed when I figured out how to properly fine tune the picture. The picture is incredible, and this is seen on a non-progressive scan dvd player. one of the key features of this set is that it automatically adjusts the screen to the program you are watching according to incoming signal. This means you don't have to manually switch between standard and widsceen formats. It is also hdtv ready and has the hd-din plug so you can plug your hd receiver directly into the set. This tv also adjusts the incoming signal ie. analog,hd,dvd so the picture is fantastic regardless of the source. I have analog cable and this is a big plus for a hd set. I can't wait to receive my new prog. scan dvd player and home theater from Phillips (Free with purchase for a limited time) I consider this a great bonus with this set. Anyone considering a set in the 57" widescreen line should take a serious look at this tv.
