Philips MPD820 8 in. Portable DVD Player

We had problems with our MPD820 at 3 mos of age (right at warranty expiration) We were told when we contacted Philips/Magnavox Customer Service to just go and buy another DVD unit, as the repair or exchange/replacement was not going to happen. I threatened to file a complaint with the Attorney General for failure to comply with terms of a written warranty policy, It was a this time that a supervisor came on the phone and gave me a return goods authorization number, and told me our DVD would be replaced with a New unit at no charge...Sound too good to be true? IT WAS! We waited six weeks for a replacement, that was supposed to take 10 days to arrive (written policy in the warranty) Two more phone calls, in addition to the eight i had already made (average time on phone 45 minutes, 35 of which was on hold for a total of 10 calls) to get new unit delivered to my home.

Removed new unit from factory packaging, it did not work! (it could not detect a dvd in the player)

Philips Cust. Svc will replace it if I return it (again) on my dime...I don think so, I have had enough! I will avoid Philips/Magnavox at all possible cost and I suggest you do the same!

A VERY BAD EXPERIENCE WITH A LARGE ELECTRONICS COMPANY THAT YOU WOULD EXPECT SO MUCH BETTER SERVICE FROM!
