Pathetically poor customer service

In December of 1999, I purchased a Philips CDR 770. At the point of purchase, the Salesperson strongly advised me to buy an extended warranty. I did not: Big mistake.
The cd burner quickly developed a habit of ceasing to record during the first five seconds it was engaged in recording a track. This causes a creation of a "track" when you are using a CD-R disc. The cd burner would display "Updating" and then become idle. Soon, the cd burner began to simply shut off during the first five seconds of recording a track. This causes the disc which is recording to become unusable for future recording and unplayable on standard cd players.
Worse than the performance of their product, is Philip's customer service. I reported the problems I was having to Philips via e-mail at their website during the first week of March, 2000. They have yet to respond. As the product was still under factory warranty, by three days, I brought it to an authorized Philips repair center. The repair center has been waiting THREE WEEKS for Philips to send them a technical manual so that they can repair the cd burner. Philips has twice shown a real "Take the money and run" approach to customer service.
