This Phillips DVP5990 plays my DVD's just fine, but this player really shines when it comes to its USB port and onboard decoding skills! I've had this for maybe 2 months now, and I bought a 750GB WD external hard drive that I leave attached via USB. So far it's played everything I've copied to the hard drive flawlessly, including AVI, MPG, MP4 and other file types, plus my MP3's. The player will rip audio CD's to MP3's on the external drive at the touch of a button.
