Philips fw380c Affordable, okay if you are on a budget.

Compact inexpensive. Nice studio apt style unit.

Can't really "crank-it". Limited sound.

The Bottom Line:
If you have the extra cash-flow spend it on the next better model. If not, this will do just fine. If you are a total audiophile, skip this model.
This model has been out for a while, so there are others in it's class that may be better for the money.
It fits on a nice small space, and i Love the DETACHABLE SPEAKERS! I have them wired up in each corner of my college apt, just perfect. They are loud enough to disturb the neighbors but if you want to crank it up for a party, forget it. They sound tinny and lose the quality at about 72% volume. They would be good in a small garden area though.
Radio Reception is good. I like the combo of tape, CD. It has easy to use buttons and the remote is simple to use to. I can even bounce it off the wall from my desk to control the volume, so it is strong.
The CD rack is noisy when it changes over. It sounds rather lose when the plastic rattles on the change-over, however i have never had a problem with any CD it has played.
One thing that bugs the heck out of me is that the display keeps jumping around when the unit is not being used. Maybe i missed something in the instructions on how to turn it off , but i feel like i am at the store, still looking at it broadcasting its features thru the digital display. I've gotten used to it. Cheap is good. Would i buy another ........no, but for staving college students this is just perfect. Better this then nothing.
