An awesome shelf system, sound quality is that of a much more expensive system. I would recommend this to anyone, budget consumers and audiophiles a like!
I just recently purchased this off eBay for $40 bucks (tape deck cover was missing on one side, and no remote ;) and this little shelf system is AMAZING! many people are misled into thinking that the two 6.5" speakers are actually subwoofers. that's how amazing the bass on the FWC550 is... the DBB is incredible, as on all Philips music products... and then with a touch of the Max Sound button, you're blown away even further. I don't know what the hell the Max Sound is supposed to do to the sound, but it makes it louder, and clearer, just even more amazing... kinda like a surround sound effect, but much better than that. this shelf seems like it can take a beating.. and also, i've noticed that the cd changer opens and closes quickly, and with ease. very impressive to me, as irritatingly slow trays are common, and one of my biggest frustrations.
