The Bottom Line:
If you are looking for a good system to start out with this is it. Five decent speakers and a powered subwoofer all for under $200. Great Value.
My wife gave me the Magnavox MRD200 for Christmas. Last year we picked up a Daewoo DVD that broke by August, after only 6 movies. After that my wife would only go with a "brand name" and would not even consider off brands. At the same time she did not want to shell out much cash. Thanks to my brother in law, somewhat of an audio/video-phial she picked this one up and I have been quite happy. What can you expect out of system that is priced under $200? In this case five decent speakers and a powered subwoofer.
The system has both S-Video and Component hookups with very clear and easy instructions for putting everything together. The sound is great for my 15x15 family room (DVD, CD, AM, FM). So far I have not been able to get my TV and VCR audio to work through the system but once I hooked up the DVD and Tuner I have not tried to hard.
It took me a bit to figure out how to fas forward and rewind, I had assumed that there would be a remote control button but I was mistaken, it is a menu function. Also more that once I have hit the "disc menu" button as opposed to the "system menu" botton and have started the movie over. Though not extremely intuitive the remote is simple to learn.
At this point I have not had to contact customer support so I cannot speak to their service.
For an entry-level system I am quite pleased.
