A Great Mini-bookshelf System for your office
Pros
Easy to use remote, design, motorized CD tray, 40 presets
Cons
Sound quality a little flat, have to reset clock if unplugged
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
A good mini-system to have in your office and with 2 different speaker covers, you can have variety.
Phillips does the consumer some justice when they produced this mini-bookshelf system. Already I have a Sony's mini shelf system for the bedroom and needed something for my office.
I purchased this system from BestBuy on sale for 99 bucks, a bargain compared to the 199 I paid for a Sony mini-system. Out the box Phillips does a great packaging job and bundles 2 different sets of speaker covers! One a silver and a blue. How thoughtful! The remote is a one of the best audio remotes I've used much better than Sony's stubby remote.
After hooking everything up and reviewing the well-written documentation it's time for the most important part of a a mini-audio system, sound quality. Sound was a little flat I thought, it didn't have the full sound as with the Sony or the a Bose wave radio, somewhat functional and but satisfying. Definitely there are no frills when it come to the sound quality.
The tuner is a pretty good, having 40 easy to set presets that is stored in memory, even after power was disconnected. I wish the clock would do the same. I had the unit is plugged into a switched outlet and I had to reset the clock everytime I turned the wall switch off. AM tuning is good along with FM tuning, I would rate this a better than average.
Impressive looks and very good remote is a strong area of this system. The motorized CD tray is an added feature which won my praise and recommendation, Even though the sound is a little flat.
