Great Image quality Lousy Battery!

Pros Best image in a portable I have seen great swivel screen.
Cons Battery is one time use! and only one headphone output.
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  If you are always going to have this unit plugged in for power then it is a great buy.
This has to be one of the best image quality out there in a portable DVD player. Very smooth image and great color depth. Initially it also sounds pricey, but the image quality makes it for it, plus it also comes with a car headrest mounting hardware. It has a nice swivel screen that can be rotated 180 degrees and flatten ala tablet style. The weak side is that considering it has a swivel screen it only has one audio output connector so only one set of headphones. The weak side of this unit is the internal battery which can not be replaced. Not by you nor phillips! Thats right give them a call and asked them yourself, I was shocked considering that brand new this battery barely makes it to 4 hours. Once it goes thru a few chargings the battery life is surely to shorten even more. They will cover it with a replacement unit as long as it is within it's warranty, but outside of warranty it no longer becomes a portable in my opinion since it will be tethered for electrical power once the battery can not make it thru a 2 hour movie. Another big bummer is this unit does not give you a clue as to how much time is left in your movie. Phillips does have a software fix for it that requires you to download drivers, burn to a CD and then load it on the player. Not everyone will feel comfortable doing this, but to me it shows poor testing of the unit on there part or somebody forgot too add programming code somewhere.
