The On-The-Go TV!

Pros Can watch it anywhere!
Cons Except in bright sun.
Recommended it? Yes
I openly admit, I am a TVHolic . I've always envied my girlfriends who had TV's in their kitchen and able to cook/watch at the same time. Well, after moving into our new house. I made a deal with hubby (he wanted to get rid of our 45" and get a 35" for our LR), and a TV for the kitchen for me was part of the deal :)

I originally wanted a television that mounted under the counter. However, this TV caught my eye. The most important feature I liked was that it didn't need to be hooked to cable, making it completely portable and able to go into any room I like :) There is a nice long antennae (that folds up small and attaches on the top of the TV in a little notch to hold it securely). And this antennae works great! There is absolutely no need for cable! And the bonus of this TV is that it can also hook up to your car lighter and you can really watch it on the GO! We actually had ours at the Patriots Game on Sunday, well not the game but the tailgating before. Boy did the men love that!

The screen is really clear and vibrant. There is a dark glass front, to prevent any glares from lights and what not. The manual quotes it as "a 36 percent transmission dark glass faceplate, black matrix and a 90-degree deflection angle for added contrast".

It also has the capability of tuning into 80 different channels! It is one touch tuning, you press the "channel ^" button and this red line glides across the tv (red for UHF and green for VHF), stopping on the next channel in line. You can tell what channel you are on by the colored line, it matches up with the channels at the bottom of the screen. This line disappears seconds after you reach your channel. However, if you need to check what channel you are on, you only need to press the Display channel and the line will appear long enough to see what channel it is. If the station is statically, a little playing with the antennae fixes that problem instantly. Most of the channels come in so clear, I'm amazed there is no cable connection. There is also a Volume up and down button next to the Channel buttons.

On the front of the TV but near the button is the larger ON/OFF button and a smaller UHF/VHF selection button. There is also a spot on the other side of the 3" speaker (next to the power buttons on the front) for a headphone. Great while traveling!

Speaking of traveling, this TV works great in the car too! I was just watching the Olympics last night on our way home from the Patriots game. I was really amazed to get such a clear picture in a moving vehicle! the attachment to hook the TV into the cigarette lighter did not come with the TV. However, we purchased one at Radio Shack for $13.00, not bad. You can also run the TV on batteries, something I will never do! If you can plug it into two different places, why bother? I have enough kids toys that I have to load batteries in constantly!

On the back of the TV are spots to hook up video/audio. So we could actually hook up the TV to a VCR and take a little ride watching movies! LOL. Great for the kids! I better not let that secret out or everyone will be wanting MY kitchen TV!! Also on the back are buttons for fine tuning the picture "Tint, Color, Contract and Brightness". There is also a plus for an external antenna, which I don't think I'll ever need (Unless I'm on vacation, far into the mountains!).

The only downfall to the TV that I've discovered is watching it outside in the bright sun. I have tried to watch my soaps while floating in my pool (LOL) and the bright sun takes away the picture. But, hey, I'll give on that one .

Overall, a great little portable TV :)
