The Bottom Line:  If someone gives you one for free go for it. For that little you might be willing to suffer through using it until it falls apart. Otherwise avoid it.
I bought a Phillips Expanium, but returned it so I could get this. It was a mistake. I liked the fact I could see the song names instead of just a number on the LCD of the Expanium. At first I was disapointed because I typically use the file name to describe my songs, not the ID3 tags. Therefore the unit would not display those song names. Also regardless of the folder structure, it just puts all the songs on the disk in one long playlist so you can't skip from folder to folder like the Expanium.

Then came the serious problems. It comes with a set of rechargeable batteries and an included charger. Eventually the batteries on a full charge lasted 30 minutes maximum. It was a joke. The next problem was the build quality. From the moment I got this thing it felt like it was cheap. The plastic is of poor feel and quality. It seems like it would be all too easy to break this although I have not done so.

On my unit, the silver portion started to lose it's color. Apparently it's not silver plastic, but just silver painted plastic. So now the sides of my unit (where it bulges out) is this yellowish raw plastic color. Also the four way navigational pad has lost the paint that indicated what each button did so you have to just know what the buttons do. The worst part is I hardly ever use this player because I dislike the way it works. On to that:

The controls are hard to use and very finicky. In order to get it to turn on you have to hold down the play button for about 5 seconds. Once you do it takes about 1 minute to catalog all the songs on the disc. It just says "searching..." and displays the number of songs it found. When I use a portable device I am usually not willing to wait a minute for it to "boot up". To turn the unit off you have to hold down the stop button for about 5 seconds. Nobody who picks it up can figure out how to use it. They all think it's broken. For portable consumer devices: they should be intuitive to use. If I have to read the manual twice to figure how to turn the confounded thing on...it's not designed well.
