Terrible Software and Navigation Support

Pros IN-DASH
Cons NO-SUPPORT
Recommended it? No
The Bottom Line:  DO NOT SPEND MONEY ON THIS UNIT.
I purchased this unit for my flower shops delivery drivers. It is an in-dash navigation system, which claims to be xm-traffic and xm-radio ready. It also claims to play DVD videos, music Cd's, and navigate all at once. The system comes with 2 software disks, (west coast) and (east coast). The navigation portion is 90% disabled without the disk installed. You cannot reroute, do any type of address searches, business searches, phone searches unless you are within a 10 mile radius of your starting point. If not guess what, re-insert the disk and let it find you again. And lets not forget you have to pull over and set the e-brake if you plan on changing the destination or basically any of the function's that pertain to navigation. The DVD player which is suppose to play video on the 6.5 inch fold out and up motorized screen. This can only be done if your parked with the e-brake set. I have over the past several months inserted and re-inserted the disk over a 1000 times, just trying to get the unit to be of some help. Well the CD is now wore out. My navigation system is completely inoperable. The unit is not xm-traffic or xm-radio ready as it claims. This can only be done if you spend another $200 for the interface module that has to be installed also. It is the most expensive unit on the market yet it does 20% of what any of its competitors equipment can do. The unit is so poorly designed, that it actually becomes an issue of safety. The driver in a vehicle with this unit installed in trying to do even the simplest navigation will be left with no choice but to look at the display entirely to often. And lets not forget to re-install the CD every 10 miles, so the disk can flash the memory with the useful data for the new area, and you have to pull over and set the e-brake for this navigation portion to work. I was under the impression that the best navigation system available would make my job easier, more professional, more efficient, save gas, and just have a good experience. I contacted Pioneer about the CD to get a replacement. They want $250.00 for the disks. The dealer I purchased the unit from, when I asked him about the CD, says allot of his customers have complained about the unit, especially the Cd's having to be re-inserted all of the time and eventually wearing the CD out. I have spoken to most of the high end audio dealers in my county and they all say the same thing regarding the disks. The reviews on the Internet are even more chilling. The unit is going to cause accidents on our roadways, do to the amount of time one must spend resetting, rerouting, stopping the car, putting on the e-brake, re-installing the disk. It is even worse when you finally get to the destination and find out that your really just close to it. You have to navigate the last bit by eye site. This software and equipment in this system, is to full of NO'S and CANT'S and WONT'S. And re-install the disk and set the e-brake. And ..... Well you get the point by now. Even though you can make one copy of the disks for yourself for backup purposes. Once again you will find out that making a copy that works in the unit is another story. I am so fully disappointed in this product along with countless others who were lead to believe in a product that just doesn't work for what it was intended for. Pioneer couldn't even supply a plastic case, for the very plastic $2000.00 detachable face on the unit. And good luck trying to make your own Cd disks from your computer's drive's. For $2000.00 your only answer is IT MIGHT WORK, WELL MAYBE IT WILL. Please dont buy this unit, you will surely be let down.
