The Pioneer DEH - P1000 is a great deal for an indash cd player. I bought it for 179.99 at Electronic Express. I have seen it for 199.99.
The good: great sound, at 45 by 4 (meaning 45 watts by 4 speakers), even my factory system in a 1990 Buick Century sounds incredible. Everyone who hears my speakers asks me if I have subwoofers, and I have to deny it. The display is very bright. Depending on your shocks, the skip has been very minimal in my case. There are 7 preset equilizer settings, and a custom setting in which you can choose the levels of high, meduium, and lows on a scale -6 to +6. "Loud" option allows user to change to three loundness settings.
The bad: When you switch equilizer settings, as on most cd players, there is a skip time for about half a second. Programming can be a bother if that's what you neeed. No detachable face.
