The best investment

Pros many sound options, good display, volume knob, 50wx4 mosfet amplifier
Cons fm reception not excellent, no cd song titles, aux input costs extra
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  I love this player; it sounds amazing for the price
Looking to add a thumping system to my 1992 honda accord, which was originally paired with a cheap old sony cd player with exceptionally weak fm radio reception, I did a lot of research and found that the deh-p350 was the best option for my price range (120 dollars refurbished on ebay, half of the retail price). A lot of things led to my decision, but the most noticeable advantage of this unit is the amount of options you get in the type of sound you want to hear.

There are several preset EQs, including vocal, powerful, super bass, flat, or custom. On all of these EQs you can add more punch to it with EX-EQ. The custom options are endless. There are independent low, medium and high level adjustments, three modes of loudness (adds a punch to your music), and source level adjustment for cd, radio and auxiliary input. Also, this is a perfect unit to hook up to a subwoofer. There are high and low pass filters (sends only treble to speakers and bass to woofer, so your system is more efficient) built in to the unit, 3 rca inputs and a vast array of subwoofer options on the unit.

The mosfet amplifier on this thing leaves almost no distortion on the speakers, even at very high volumes and bass levels. The sound is unbelievably clear.

One of the most important things that i made sure to avoid was a head unit with volume buttons. I like the feel of the knob on the unit and it makes it much more accessable.

The display is easy to read in nearly all lighting conditions. Nothing fancy, but it works.

The fm reception is pretty good, but you would expect better with all the hype that pioneer gives "Supertuner IIID" on their site, claiming it is "CD-like" quality. It's good, but not amazing.

You can store up to 50 cd titles on this unit, but no song titles. I find song titles much more important than disk titles.

I have an ipod hooked up to this unit and it really bugged me that i had to buy an extra 30 dollar aux inpot "box" to plug into the ip-bus port (by the way, the ipod sounds excellent hooked up to the p350).
