PROBLEMS with operating buttons - BIG TIME

Pros Great mp3 playback without skip, reads CD-RWs as well, good sound.
Cons Complicated menus for easy adjustment tasks, long mp3/wma loading time
Recommended it? No
The Bottom Line:  Seems like a decent unit, be prepared for hours of self teaching lessons to operate it!
I purchased the Pioneer DH550-MP just a couple of months ago from a retailer selling through eBay. After installation I eagerly started playing with the unit, but had to find out that you really need to go through the manual to get this one handled.
With all the complicated menus it was especially hard to operate the unit which appears to be a Monday lemon that is half asleep and not reacting to my button input. I had to find out that I have a remote that is half dead (some buttons work intermittently, others do not work at all and never have during the time I am using it now), important buttons on the main unit seem to be temperamental as well. Some I can keep pushing, and they ignore any command (just like on the steering remote unit).
It's very frustrating to say the least.
I used a Sony XR430 head-unit with a 10 disc changer that never gave me any problems for more than 8 years. The wired remote worked flawless on that one, but this Pioneer with the wireless remote really sucks so far.
Nevertheless I can play CDs and listen to radio (if I am persistent enough), the sound is o.k., even though pretty tough to adjust to personal settings (don't look for any easily found treble or bass knobs, it's all buried deep within a push-tons-of-buttons sub menus!). mp3 CDs take a while top load and play (20-30 sec's) , but once running it plays well without any skipping !!
Now I have to see how good the shop that I purchased this unit from will be with customer service, or if I have to turn to Pioneer for the push button issue, so that I finally can reveal the full potential of this unit.
