I would have to say that it is simple interface with a full functioning remote control. My main purpose for purchasing the unit was to enable the playback of files from my USB Mass Storage Device ( External Hard Drive ). The unit is capable of reading files on hard drives up to 250g There are the portable hard drives available but they are powered by USB power coming from the USB port, no power supply. This method is sometimes insufficient to the head unit and will give you a display of "No Device".
So I connected a Maxtor One Touch 160g external hard drive to the head unit using a Power Inverter. Problem solved? Not exactly. The head unit recognized the drive but did not find any of the MP3,Wma,Wav or AAC files stored on it.
After hours of troubleshooting I finally decided to call Pioneer Electronics Tech Support and I was told that a tested and proven Mass Storage Device was any Seagate Brand Hard Drive with a power supply.
