I main reason I purchased this dvd player, is to play my collection of movies from my external Hard disk. It does that job. Plays .avi,.wmv and few other formats.
And it also does a great job in upconverting. The picture quality is much better than my previous dvd player, at least due to using HDMI instead of component video cable.
Over all its a great DVD player, and it alredy lasted longer than my last dvd player.
