Love it or go home

Pros Unbelievable television/video viewing experience
Cons You see every wrinkle, pimple and blemish on the actors face - I love it!
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  Run to buy the last of the best tv ever made - they're going fast and becoming extinct - literally.
This is not just a TV, it's an experience. Read all the reviews out there and you'll see they all say the same thing "Pioneer Elite is the best out there".

So how do I rationalize spending $5000.00, especially in this current economy?
Where do you and your family spend most of your time? If you're anything like the average family, most time will be spent in the family room with the TV on. Everyone has big ticket items and my thought is that I'm willing to spend more money on purchases that I use the most. So yes you can get a "good" TV that's less expensive and it will be fine, but when you buy the Elite you're going from good to great. You can buy a Toyota - you know it's reliable and it gets you from here to there. Now try driving a Ferrari which not only gets you to where you want to go, but makes the ride an incredible experience.

So the story is; I bought a rear projection Pioneer Elite about 9 years ago and it was the best of it's kind back then. This time around I said "there's no need to spend that kind of money, 6k, on another TV"... fast forward to me sitting in front of my new Pioneer Elite 151 Flat Panel with the most beautiful picture that I've seen. I just can't settle for average. What really put me over the top; My original thought was "hey, I'll buy a $2k TV now and in a few years when cash is a little better I'll buy my Elite". Then I heard the news - Pioneer will no longer be making TV's, that's it, they're done.

Although Pioneer will no longer be making their tv's, they are required by law to still make the parts for 7 years, so don't worry that they won't be around, they just got out of the tv biz. I would suggest purchasing through an authorized dealer because if anything does need fixing, they will have no problem getting the parts.

PLASMA SCREEN
I can view the TV with all windows open with no glare! I can use my computer with the TV as my monitor - that's 60 inches for a computer screen, wow. Below are the only things that I understand and appreciate, but there's so much more than this:

- Detachable side speakers with great sound
- Automatic Room Light Sensor
- Advanced Purecinema
- Energy Star Compliant with energy saving mode
- Game Control

SOUND
Again more than I know, but what I can tell you is that I keep looking around the house thinking that the cats knocked something over, or someone's outside - but it's the TV. You hear more than just the actors, but all the backround sounds as well. Truth is, I don't know if I ever noticed them before this TV and this is just from the speakers they provided.

- 18-Watt Stereo Digital Amplifier w/TruBass 2-Way Stereo Speakers    - Sound Effect
- Auto Volume Control
