Great high-quality, minimalist system
Pros
Spectacular sound. Value. Neatness. Lack of wiring drama. Visually cool. Simple. Clever.
Cons
None whatsoever.

The Bottom Line:
Buy it. You'll be stunned. And grateful that you didn't spend more to get less ...
I have used this system for five years on a 27" Sony and 32" Quasar television set. I've forgotten where I bought it - probably at Sam's or Pace. I was intrigued by the low price and figured, what the heck, it's so reasonable that I can always buy another surround sound system if I don't like it.
But ... WOW!
The HTV-1 makes for a neat installation, with a minimum of drama and virtually no visible wires. All you have to do is place the speaker array on top of the television (make sure that you have the vertical clearance), and connect the control cables to the sturdy down-firing 8" powered subwoofer. Power is connected directly to the subwoofer.
What a sound! The clear, punchy base is all you need in an apartment or even a sizable living room.
It really brings DVD movies to life with more sound directionality and base than you'd ever imagine --- very much like the large theater sound experience.
A thrilling little system.
Very clever design, and you don't have to goof around with a low-quality speakers-and-wires-everywhere system.
I love it.
Further, since I was so impressed with the HTV-1, I bought the larger HTV-2 system a few years later. I now use the HTV-1 in the bedroom with a 27" JVC and the HTV-2 with a 57" Hitachi.
