Cons
Remote and User Interface
Recommended it?
Yes
I bought the Pioneer because I got tired loading and unloading CDs into my CD-Player. Why not store ALL your cds in the player? Now, all my CDs are in the CD player, not on the shelf collecting dust. It's really fantastic to have all the CDs available in a few seconds on a remote.
The sound is excellent and I am using an optical link to my Yamaha RX-V995 receiver. In truth, I can't tell between analog or optical links on this player. There maybe better CD players, but I haven't heard them. I think there is much more difference between speakers then CD players. There maybe CD players with higher S/N ratio (signal to noise), but in truth, your speakers will distort far more.
The player is very good and I haven't heard any better. The user interface - that's a different story. The remote sucks and entering the CD titles is a "major" pain. On top of that, if you do not power the CD player more then a month, it may lose all of it's title memory. Believe me, it would not be fun to re-enter all the titles. I wish you could connect a PC keyboard to it or download the names from a computer.
If you have more then 300 CDs, you can connect a slave unit and have a 600 CD jukebox. This is fantastic for some of us who have too many CDs.
As long as you can live with the lousy remote, go for the player because it will really change your life (or at least your listening habits).
