Pioneer TS-SW2541D 10" Car Subwoofer

I bought this speaker from my wholesaler about 3 days ago and thought it would be well worth the money i paid for it. Now i had read all the reviews on this site thinking it would be a good speaker and not have any problem. Now usually i only put speakers in my car that are about 3000 watts so i can compete in competitions and such. So i put this in my car just get me by for a daily driver. Anyways had this hooked up to an alpine monoblock that was 800 rms @ 2 ohms boy was that a bad idea. this sub is rated 1500 peak but i think alpine underrated it a tad. Hooked it up and adjusted the amp accordingly. Had it in a 1.5 cubic foot vented box and thought this baby would slam. Well it did for the 3 days it lasted. I noticed when i had the sub that it didnt hit low notes AT ALL. I could bump high notes all day long and that slammed but when it comes to lower notes this speaker sucks. On my way to work im driving along and my system cuts out and i look back and smoke is pouring from my speaker box. I became so mad i wanted to throw that peice out the window. So i wasted money on a speaker that i fried in 3 days by bumping it 300 watts over RMS. i have had speakers where ive pushed them 1000 watts over RMS and had that system for years never once having it be distorted. DONT BUY ALPINE TYPE R IF YOU WANT LOW BASS.
