Excellent value and features I needed!

Pros No skips, excellent sound quality (CD), easy to use EQ function
Cons I hate silver audio equipment, black is classic. Small preset buttons
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  Plays burned CDs without trouble, built to last (even though it is made in China), good circuit topology, excellent laser pickups, fast read, doesn't skip!
What I really love about this unit, is you don't have to flip the face down every time you want to put in or eject a CD. All the higher end Pioneer decks have excellent features, but lack this most important feature. I change CDs often, enough that this alone would bother me. (otherwise I was really thinking about buying the DEH-P3600 or DEH-P6600 which have crossovers built in, so you can use deck power and cross over your door speakers so they don't crap out at low frequencies.

I am really impressed with the overall sound quality. I installed this deck into my 1987 Volvo 760GLE, with factory door speakers and a 4channel Volvo amp. I used the pre-outs and connected it to the 4channel amp. The signal to noise ratio is outstanding, and the EQ function make this deck superior to all the competition.

I also like that it doesn't have too much FLASH.... meaning, I wanted something simple. I prefer the look of the Nakamichi, but at an affordable price without sacrificing quality. The tuner is great, although I don't use it much.

The built in power amp is ok, but I capped off the wires, MOSFETs are a unique transistor that develops decent power. MOSFETs were never known for giving great bottom end, so I still stick to Bi-Polar transistor amps (they use MOSFETs in the power supply though). The deck power will run 4 speakers quite well, I had a DEH-1400 in a previous car, and that unit lived up to all my expectations. I used the deck power, and it was fabulous.

I can't say enough about this unit.

Inexpensive, easy enough to use, doesn't skip
