The Bottom Line:
Great Sound, Great Price
My Wife wanted an easy to use no frills CD player / Radio for her 1997 van. I purchased the unit installed at Circuit City for about $165.00, including harness kit and faceplate adapter, labor, tax. The unit sounds great and has plenty of options to adjust the tone (Bass, Mid, Treb). I played a few CD's and they all sound great. It plays my daughters home brewed DC's just fine too. The unit's strong point is the sound quality – not even close to the stock GM radio. The digital processing and powerful 4x50W (max) amplifier make a huge difference. The faceplate and display is functional, looks good and is detachable. The only gripe I have with the unit is that the buttons are a bit on the small side and the button descriptions are way too small to read from a normal upright sitting distance(I have 20/20 vision). Once you familiarize yourself with the layout however you'll find that they are well spaced, easy to use and have a good tactile feel. I'd recommend the unit to my friends any day. Now I just need to update the speakers to really enjoy the sound. If you can install it yourself save a buck or two!
