Great receiver but poor execution.

Pros Great sound, easy to see at night, powerful.
Cons Poor remote, you need a PhD to figure out how to do basic tasks
Recommended it? No
The Bottom Line:  Nothing special. Look elsewhere within Pioneer line for better implementation of features.
I have owned several Pioneer receivers since the early 1990's and have always been impressed with their products. I have never had any issues as far as quality or performance whatsoever. That said, this receiver was poorly executed. It isn't easy for a novice to use. My wife recently used my vehicle and could not figure out how to turn the radio on as it was so complex. Instead of the "source" button, wouldn't a simple "on/source" button be more logical. To change the balance or other audio niceties, you have to understand the sound spectrum. It is confusing to novices, but not to me.

After using the radio for a while, you get used to the numerous steps that it takes to get things where they need to be. The remote control has a bunch of similar sized buttons that do nothing. Try to figure out which button does what in the pitch black of your car at night. It would have been worthwhile for either put glow in the dark buttons on it????

My other annoyances are the lack of data given from the optional satelite radio and Ipod units. They give you very little data on song, artist, or channel. I would think that would have been very easy to fix.

Other than these minor annoyances, the radio in and of itself are very good sounding. The implementation was lacking overall. In order to improve the implementation ,they need to fix how their products interact with other components that they sell
