Mixed feelings, mostly regrets
Pros
It's shiny and it plays music.
Cons
Display too bright at night, odd AUX jack size and position, poor satellite reception.
Recommended it?
No
I am writing this one about Pioneer DEH-P6800MP head unit with Sirius satellite radio option.
What sold me on it was the cool sliding face, the animated display, the external input jack right on the face -- all are nice touches, but the jack is positioned on the bottom of the face, and I had to Dremel a groove in the bezel to make room for the plug. And what's with a 2.5 mm plug? Isn't 3.5 mm a standard? I loathe iPods...
The face is waaaaay too bright, without an option to dim it.
You can dim the LCD, but not the buttons, which can be quite annoying at night.
Between the unit, the Sirius, and the installation, I spent $500+, and I regret the whole thing. Stay away from it.
Sirius' signal goes in and out when you're in a hilly area, even without any objects like trees or bridges overhead.
Why not make the puny satellite antenna twice as big? That will boost the signal, right? Who cares if a little black circle on your roof is 4 inches in diameter instead of 2?
