Pretty good but don't like tuner
Pros
High Pass Filter, Quick power-on/track to track reads.
Cons
Don't recommend if you like listening to more then 6 preset FM stations often.
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
Excellent audio adjustment options, good CD seek times, average or below interface, poor controls for FM. Would highly recommend for CD/MP3/WMA listeners, but would not for heavy FM users.
I've owned this unit for a few days, it was a Christmas gift, I prolly would have purchased myself based on features/price range.
Here's what I like:
Sounds great
Power-on to ready to play MP3 is quick. My old cheapo unit was very slow especially on cold days, but not this.
Quick track to track on CD/MP3 (don't have any WMA's to test).
High pass filter allows me to block bass notes from my full range speakers which keeps them from distorting or blowing. This is an excellent feature.
Subwoofer can be turned on/off with 2 buttons on deck or remote which is nice for when my child is riding with me.
What I don't like:
You cannot tell the FM tuner to scan to the next station except by holding seek button a second. This makes scanning for a good song playing on the radio (beyond your presets) very slow.
The unit is fairly slow getting to the next station after it does enter scan mode compared to some JVC / Sony units I've played with. The only fast way to go from station to station is using up/down buttons which cycle through your preset stations only. I would have liked left and right to scan and the up/down to seek or vice/versa... you can hit the preset buttons if you wanna listen to a preset...
Mute only on remote and pause is only feasible to use on remote.
Pretty small buttons, they should have made a gamepad like control for the menu and used some of the free space for larger buttons, like wider preset buttons maybe.
Would have liked DVD-R/ R/RW reading capabilities but not a big drawback for this price range.
Since the interface is lacking on the deck and most will prefer the remote, it would have been nice to have some more noticeably different buttons on the remote, like convex/concave/flat variations per row or raised letters on a couple buttons for night-time use.
