Replacing Power Supply
Pros
Excellent DVD-R/RW writing/menu creation, burned 300 DVD's with it.
Cons
The VWR-1378 power board failed Sept 2008. May not be Pioneer's fault.
Recommended it?
Yes
I have had two of these Pioneer DVR-320s models for many years, and one of them crapped out. Looking inside, there is a 10.5 x 3" circuit board that has 4 round capacitors that have bulging and leaking tops. Unfortunately it is out of warranty, but luckily I found the complete replacement board with all components here: http://parts.pioneerelectronics.com/part.asp?productNum=VWR1378 $67 including shipping.
It is relatively easy to disconnect the 3 connector plugs/ribbon, and insert new board (it comes with all parts attached to original board)....it works perfectly again.
To me it is worth going through the trouble & $67 expense, as this DVR has nice, easy to use functions, DVD-R/RW menu creation, and overall performance. I think that should be enough of a recommendation for this model, even though I doubt you can buy these new anymore.
