Excellent AM "wine free" reception excellent FM reception. Excellent playback of tapes and CDs
Cons
Multi control knob takes a while to master.
Recommended it?
Yes
I own a Ford Club Wagon with just the stock Ford AM-FM Radio with cassette player. I was never happy with AM reception because of "engine wine" breaking through in weak signal areas. I wanted a unit that could still play my cassette tapes as well as CDs with mp3s. The opening in the Ford
is large, so I thought the FH-P5000MP would fit OK, well
almost! In order to remove the Ford unit, you need to buy the radio removal tools, which fit in two small holes on either radio of the radio. Once the Ford unit was out, I had to cut
about .125 inch of bezel [plastic] off the top of the opening, then the Pioneer unit will slide right in. Also because the wiring harness in the van won't plug directly into the Pioneer, I bought a Ford harness from Scosche. This plugs into the Ford harness, the other end has bare leads are identified so it easy to match then to the Pioneer harness. Just crimp the ends together of the matching wires
are ready to install. No antenna adapter needed.
