Mixed Feelings
Pros
Cheap, easy setup, lots of features for the price, HDMI and IPOD/USB compatibility
Cons
Runs hot, needs room for ventilation, doesn't seem very loud for the rated power output
Recommended it?
Yes
I think the jury's still out on this unit - it seems to work fine and certainly is a great buy for the price, particularly when you include HDMI and USB/ipod compatibility.
The various sound modes are great (from Stereo right through Dolby Digital and a number of 'advanced surrount' settings. The auto setup using the microphone works fine too.
However, I'm not convinced that the sound output matches the published spec of around 110 watts per channel - it certainly seems quieter than my old Yamaha rated at less power.
I don't like the fact that the unit runs much much hotter than my old amp - still it seems to go ok and has a fan built in that cuts in from time to time.. The recommended 20cm of free space above the unit for ventilation seems excessive.
My recommendation would be - if you're on a tight budget it's a perfectly good unit however if you've got a few more $$$ to spend look around.
