WHAT A BUY!
Pros
Great receiver for the money and for people not really audio nuts. Simple instructions.
Cons
None unless you are really into your music and audio sounds.
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
I would recommend the Pioneer receiver for average users and neophytes because of the high quality and easily understood directions. Also for the variety of uses.
We received the Pioneer Audio Multi-Channel Receiver VSX - 108 as a Christmas gift from our son to replace our very ancient receiver. You can tell from that statement we are not high quality audio freaks. We just like to listen to music once in awhile. My husband set up the system to our
speakers and I more or less ignored the new speaker except to hit the power button.
Then one day I couldn't find my favorite FM station and had to get out the directions. I read the entire booklet which was delightfully simple and I was impressed with the features of the system. Not only does it have a remote which I had been ignoring but you can use it with the TV (in the case of the TV, oh God not another remote.) the CD player, FM and AM and the VCR.
This is only the beginning because you have speaker settings and can adjust the sound effects for various types of music presentations, stadium, stage, disco or live. I don't like a lot of sound but that sounded like fun.
It also has FM/AM tuning memories for 30 stations. I don't need that many but it's great when two people don't agree on stations and one of them adores switching stations.
I find the quality of the sound very pleasant. I am not really into sound but I have always had an unpleasant reaction to electronically produced music or even speakers and have spent many social evenings in pain from some unheard sound that emanates from these things. The pioneer is wonderful, no invisible unheard sounds.
Best of all the instruction pamphlet is delightfully simple.
