Beautiful Finish, easy setup and sounds great!
Pros
Easy setup, nice sound.
Cons
Poor remote, HDMI garbles occasionally.
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
Bottom of the line Elite is easy to use and sounds great!
Replaced my aging Marantz SR-5300 with this model around Christmas time 2006. Used this receiver for seven months now.
Setup:
Setup was a breeze, run a Microphone to your listening position and run the auto-setup program. It adjusts tone, phase and distance automatically. I did run the program a few times just to be sure it setup ok, settings were the same all three times.
First thing I noticed was resolution was perfect; I will never forget the first audio piece played back through this rig, beautiful!
My inputs: HDMI DVD Player & HD Satellite with HDMI output.
This receiver is a two HDMI input switch that handles both video and audio so you can have just one cable running through to your monitor if you run an all HDMI source.
This receiver does up-convert S-video and Composite to Component but not to HDMI, if you run a component or less input and an HDMI input you need component and HDMI output cables. When running all HDMI it is a very odd feeling looking at the back of this receiver and seeing almost nothing plugged in.
Negatives:
Around once a month the HDMI switch occasionally garbles output requiring the receiver to be turned off/on to restore picture.
The remote is so cluttered and complicated I give it a 2/5, just too much going on. I quickly programmed audio functions on to satellite remote and shelved this beast.

I am happy with the receiver, lots of power, easy setup and handles both HDMI video inputs.
