Too complex expecially if you don't care for digital

In Fev 2004, I purchased the Silver faced VSX-D412 for $179.00 at Circuit city because I had nothing to chose from and needed a receiver quick. Recently I decided I wanted to add a turntable to play my old records and learned there is no phono input. Ok so I purchase an external amp for the turntable and plug it into the Aux... and it should work fine right... well not totally.. it plays but you cannot record to a cd or tape. Also I'm not into digital, and this receiver is made way to complex to really understand what it is capable of doing. In fact in 5 years I am just now reading the manual and think it is time to purchase something that is simple to operate and has a phono input.... like a Teac or Onkyo.
