One of the best value receivers!
Pros
Very functional receiver!
Cons
The manual is _really_ bad !
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
Excellent value and very capable receiver!
This is a 5.1 dts/dolby digital receiver that I bought to supplement my DVD player. First, even though the front of this receiver looks simple-- there's two rows of buttons and two dials-- this receiver is far more functional that it looks. E.g. You can adjust the volume to each individual channel, specify your speaker configuration (whether you have large or small speakers), control the crossover frequency for the subwoofer, etc.
The manual for this receiver is VERY bad. It is unorganized, and scant. I think Pioneer is trying to save trees. The remote control has much more buttons than the unit itself. :) I got this less than 2 days ago and I don't know 80% of the buttons. :) I think if you lose the remote control you're in deep trouble because I don't think all of these functionalities can be performed on the unit itself.
Anyway, one notable mention about this receiver is that it can take input from 5.1 decoder (Front and rear, center, subwoofer). This is very useful for me because I have a computer sound card that supports front and rear speakers, and I can connect my soundcard to my receiver without any loss of functionality.
That's all I can say for now until I can play with it some more. Overall, this is a very capable receiver, and at 500 watts (100/channel), one of the more powerful ones.
