Monsoon Level 9 Planarmedia Speakers

Pros Clarity, clarity, clarity :)
Cons Initial bright sound quality.
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  Because these speakers put every other similarly priced set in the shade, I have the utmost confidence recommending them.
I have listened to more computer speakers than I care to remember. NONE that I have heard in this price range can hold a candle to these Monsoon Level 9 speakers!

While people can be put off by their initial bright sound quality, let them break-in for about 25 hours and they will be sporting a satisfied grin from ear to ear :)

The construction and aesthetic appeal of these ultra-modern looking speakers is simply excellent. The satelites are very cool looking due to their thinness. Look at them from the side and they almost disappear. The subwoofer is your typical looking black box but this merely disguises the terrific and accurate bass frequencies it produces. Most subwoofers simply offer up a series of grunts when called upon to follow a complex bass line. This subwoofer just takes it all in stride, having no problem producing distinct NOTES instead of the afforementioned grunts.

In fact, these speakers strip away the various levels of sonic mush that most low-sampled MP3s offer. Indeed, you will be forced to resample your MP3 collection to the neighbourhood of 256kbps in order to satisfy your now heightened sense of hearing. 320kbps will sound even better. No kidding.

I often listen to my MP3 music collection on WimAmp, augmented with the SRS Wow Thing set at a moderate level. The life and utter drama these speakers produce under such conditions is breathtaking. The sound stage widens impressively, while the bass frequencies take on a live character that must be heard to be appreciated.
