My kids love taking picture! When I saw the ad for the Joycam I thought it would make a great Christmas gift.
The price is right for this camera at 24.99, I won't spend a dime more. This isn't a camera for great clarity. This is more of a camera for kids ages 9 - teenagers, to have some fun with.
The size of the camera is medium, it's a little on the bulky side with it's modern style. It's not going to fit in your pants or shirt pocket.
It does have an outdoor and indoor setting with flash. It sits on top of the Joycam and is very easy to read and use.
The film size is Polaroid 500, and it can be found at Walmart for 9.98 for 10 photos. Wow, I was a little surprised at that cost too. A 1.00 a photo, at that price you can't afford to waste any pictures. (and this is for kids)
The film is very easy to load and the picture process is also simple. The film fits right in the back of the Joycam and it locks in place. Then all you need to do is just aim and shoot and there is a round cord to pull on the side of the camera, and that sends your instant picture out to view.
How are those picture? The size is about 2 x 3, not very big. You need to stand close to your subject if you want to see detail in the picture. When I say detail am referring to the face. The pictures aren't all that great. There are a little fuzzy and cloudy but, you can make out the subject of your picture fine. Don't expect 100% clear pictures that you might get with a 35 mm camera.
Basically this is not a camera for special moments that you are going to look back on for memories. Like vacations, reunions or baby pictures. Now, for kids. This is perfect...It's great for instant fun to share with friends. Of course make them buy the film.
I wouldn't totally rule this camera out for adults either. It can be fun!!!!!!
