Polaroid FCM-0700A 7 in. Portable TV

This product was purchased from Best Buy on 12-4-04 for $279.00. On 6-1-05, it quit working. Best Buy was no help. Said it only had a 90 warranty. They suggested that I call the customer service number in the owners manual. This I did and discovered that a marketing company Named Petters Consumer Brands handles Polaroid products. Petters informed me that they do not provide any repair service but that for $160.00 they would sell me a new one. I do not consider this a fair solution. With the original price of $279.00 plus replacement price of $160.00, that means I will have paid $439.00 for a 7 inch TV that apparently only lasts six months. All I want is this thing fixed. Local repair services won't touch it because Petters won't supply schematics. It appears that this 6 months old TV is headed for the scrap pile.
