Screen died after 6 months
Pros
When working, was happy with it.
Cons
Defective design allows screen to go die after about 4 to 9 months.
Recommended it?
No
Bought this for Christmas present Dec. 05 and screen died about 6 months later. Everything else works. Only has 90 day warranty and best Polaroid would do is to charge $115 for an exchange. We won't be doing that due to other people having problems with the exchanged unit too. Poor quality.
*** UPDATE - 5 months later - UPDATE ***
My unit had been sitting for the last 3 months broken. After research of the problem and disassembly of the LCD screen I found the inverter had a burnt chip on it. I called Polaroid to see if they sold the part. The customer rep said they did not sell parts for it but were now offering a replacement for $60. I had to box the unit up to include all accessories and follow explicit directions. We received the replacement unit which was a totally different model (FDM0715). Fortunately the screw holes were the same so it mounted in easily.
Like the first one, this model doesn't play burned DVD's. We've been using it now for about 2 months. I still would not recommend buying the Polaroid unit due to short warranty and high probability of failure.
