Polaroid PDC 3070 digital camera Hidden Cost

Pros Takes nice pictures, easy to use, lightweight and comfortable to hold.
Cons Keeping this camera in batteries will bankrupt me. <br> :/
Recommended it? No
The Bottom Line:  As cheap as it was, this camera is way too expensive once you calculate the cost of the batteries! Such a shame because otherwise it's a nice camera.
I bought this camera for my 14 yr. old daughter as an inexpensive first digital camera that would offer some basic features and be simple to use. She had no difficulty getting started, the user guide explained everything she needed to know and she was quickly on her way. The pictures are clear and are of sufficient quality for her needs. She particularly enjoys the video clip feature.

One hidden feature that I hadn't anticipated however was the expense of keeping this camera in batteries. It came supplied with 4 x AAA Alkaline batteries and the user guide instruction says to install Alkaline batteries. If you go out for a day of sight-seeing and you use regular Alkaline batteries however, be prepared to carry at least one new set of 4, possibly even 8, batteries in your pocket at all times because you'll need them. My daughter was having to replace the batteries daily when we went on vacation, and she wasn't using the camera any more than one normally does. When I called the supplier to ask if there was something wrong with the camera that it needed new batteries so often I was told that this camera actually needs Lithium batteries.

I went looking Lithium batteries and was horrified to find that AAA Lithiums cost (in Canadian funds) $12.99 for a pack of two. And this camera takes four batteries! I spent $26 Cdn (before taxes!) on a single set of batteries! My daughter commented that she wouldn't be replacing the batteries for this camera even if they do run out.

In all, a disappointment.
