another sheep in the flock of dvd players or is it more?

Great portable dvd player for the movie junkie on the go. Great picture and excellent sound. Bonus extras too!
Introduction:
well, ever since i got a new job, i had to give up my work laptop and in turn my portable dvd player. So i decided to go shopping for a portable dvd player that i could also use as a normal dvd player (ie hook up to my 24" lcd at home or any tv on the go).
The market for portable dvd players is a pretty crowded one these days. You have your typical big name brands (sony, panasonic, etc..) and your generic names. Each model of course offering similar features and extras. However, i've learned that what you pay for is usually what you get (unless you can find a REALLY good coupon/deal on it). So i decided to go mid-grade; something that was from a major manufacturer but not gonna cost me my left leg.
So after reading up on a few different players and checking around, decided to go w/Polaroid's PDM-0723. The main things that attracted me was the sound quality from the ext speaker and ability to hook up to a tv and also use as a monitor (via rca inputs).
Packaging/Contents
I was surprised w/all of the extra goodies that were included. The package contained:
-DVD Player
-AC Adapter
-Car Adapter
-Video/Sound In/Out (same connections are used for both, just toggel between the two w/a switch)
-headphone splitter
-ext battery pack
-and of course the usual credit card sized remote
Movie Experience/Quality
the player is rather heavy but to me that is a good thing, a solid feel to me = a solid build and materials. The screen can be rotated 180 degrees so you can use the player like a tablet if you want.
The speakers are mounted below the 7" LCD and are very good for being so tiny. I also like how they are mounted below the LCD so when you turn the lcd to you, you also turn the speakers vs speakers that on the base unit. Again, headphones sound great with it too. You can tell it has a Dolby Decoder built in, another plus!
Image quality is very crisp and bright. A pretty wide viewing angle, enough for 2 people to watch at the same time w/player in the middle.
Conclusion
Among the sea of portable dvd players, this Polaroid shines. It offers a great picture quality, good sound w/the built in speakers, and some nice extras included w/it (ie car adapter and all connecting cables). A good deal for the price!
