The Bottom Line:  This is a great quality portable DVD player for the price with everything that you could possibly ask for in a similar product.
I have to say, after reading review after review of portable DVD players and checking prices, I kept coming back to the PDM-0723. I kept thinking that Polaroid knew cameras, but could they really know a DVD player? The answer is yes.

I was getting ready to take a trip to Vegas with my wife for a wedding, and we had a flight with one stop. I knew I would be OK with the first leg of an hour, but the four hour flight to Vegas would be bad for me, because I get bored real quick and I'm happy when I can tune out everything around me, especially on a plane.

The biggest reason I purchased and KEPT this DVD player is that it can play DVD+R disks. I no longer take any original disks with me on trips as I once lost $500 worth of CDs on a plane and nobody every turned them in to the lost & found. The first thing that I did when I got home was charge the battery and put in a copy of one of my movies. It played beautifully. The picture was incredible and the sound was pretty good too. I don't understand people that want movie theatre quality sound from such a tiny little player. The sound was pretty good, but I knew I was going to use a quality set of headphones (Sennheiser HD212 Pro), so I was not concerned.

The buttons were all easy to master and to my surprise, the unit was not that bulky to work with on the plane. I used to take my laptop for movies, but I'm 6'4" and 265 and when somebody leans a seat back, I'm in trouble. It happened again, and although it was uncomfortable for me, I could still watch my movie just fine.

Another neat feature, although, I'm not sure how I would use it, is to rotate the screen and fold it flat into a tablet player and you can still watch the movie. That was fun to play with, but it might just come in handy some time in the future.

You also can't beat all of the accessories that you get. You get all the cables that you would need, including a remote and the car adapter. People mentioned that they wanted a bag for the player and all of it's goodies that come with it. I can not help with this, because I have a laptop backpack that I carry with me and I put everything in that for my trips.

It was mentioned in one review on one site that the battery was sort of bulky, but I didn't find any problem with it. I got about 3? hours out of my charge, and it took about 3 hours to charge the battery. I was happy with that result. I will mention that because of my long flight, I knew one battery would not help me, I went to batterygeeks.net and purchased a battery (#9-12-60) from them that would give me another 2-3 full movies worth of watching. That was worth it as I had to use it for the trip out and it held it's charge for the trip back as well. They also had an airline adapter for your car adapter that uses the cig lighter plug on sale, so I picked one of those up as well.

I have to say that I'm ecstatic with my purchase and it's everything that I wanted in a portable DVD player and more. Plus, even though my wife thought I'd gone crazy buying "another gadget", she even agreed it was worth the buy for it's price. Check it out. You'll be just as happy as I am!

UPDATE:
I have now owned this player for almost a year and I have to say that it NEVER disappoints me. Just two weeks ago, I packed it up and took it to D.C. with me to a family member's house. They only have one TV (in his bedroom) so I plugged it up and watched movies in my room when everybody was asleep. I did forget to mention its size in the earlier review but it is compact enough for me to throw in my backpack when I travel. It measures 7?"W x 5?"D and about 1?" thick. With the battery, you add about an inch in depth and maybe ?" in height in the rear. Most novels I read are actually smaller in size that this is. You will keep this same size if you fold the monitor over for tablet viewing. It is a very nice compact player and I still can not say enough good things about it. It is definitely one of my favorite buys as well as one of my smarter ones too.
