Great picture, good battery life, bulky to carry

Pros Excellent picture quality. Good sound on headsets.
Cons Bulky, need to carry too many cords, adapters, etc.
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  I would recommend that you either buy this machine, or invest in a good laptop, as this thing is almost as bulky as one to carry around.
My review of the Polaroid PDM-0743 Portable DVD Player:
I have had this portable dvd player about nine months, and have used it on about four road trips (flights actually). I originally purchased the unit for $124.00 at circuit city while it was on sale.

The good:
Picture quality is good, very little to no glare on the screen
Rotating screen helps adjust for more than one person to view it.
Works well with every DVD I have tried.
Remote works well
Sound quality through headphones is excellent, and in true stereo

The Bad:
You have to use a Y adapter if you want two people to use headphones (fortunately the adapter is supplied)
The speaker quality is a bit tinny (though I usually use headphones)
The unit is bulky and awkward.
No carrying case

Generally, I am very pleased with this portable dvd player. Having only used generic brand portable dvd players in the past, this one is far superior.

The picture quality is excellent, even in situations where there is a glare on the screen. It is very easy for two people (on a plane) to see and view a movie without any problems.

The speaker quality is just average, but using headsets sounds great. My major complaint is that you have to us a Y-adapter to have two people use the set. Fortunately they do supply the adapter, but it is just one more thing that you have to carry around with you.

The remote works very well, however, when you rotate the screen 180? the remote will no longer function because the sensor is now on the back side. This can be a problem since you typically rotate the screen around when sitting on a tray table, however there are also controls on the front of the dvd player itself, so you do not really need the remote at all times.

Battery life is as the manufacturer claims. I get about 3 hours watching low impact movies (not much going on) and about 2.5 hours when watching action movies with lots of explosions, sounds, etc.

My biggest complaints are about the size and bulkiness of the unit. You cannot tell in the pictures, but the battery is actually another piece that clips off the bottom and back of the unit, so it extends out another two inches. Plus, you have to carry around cords, adapters, earphones, etc, and the unit does not come with a carrying case. If you through them all in a carry-on bag, the wires all get tangled, which is a problem.

Overall I would recommend this unit, however I think I would have been better off putting the cost of the unit into an extended battery for my laptop which has an easy case and no adapters.
