Polaroid I-Zone Film Camera
Pros
Great concept had the camera and film not been discontinued by Polaroid.
Cons
Polaroid discontinued manufacturing/distributing the camera and film. Obsolete once stable film supply is exhausted.
Recommended it?
No
The Bottom Line:
Avoid this camera as the camera and the film for it have been discontinued by Polaroid. Remaining film is very expensive and most likely past expiration date.
I purchased this camera at an unbelievably low price on EBAY. That should have been my first "warning sign". Then I started to search for film for this camera. Earlier reviews stated that the MSRP for the film was in the range of $4.99 - $6.99. Well, prices in the e-stores were in the $25.00+/roll range. So, I called Polaroid today and learned that they had discontinued manufacturing and distributing this camera AND the film (the Fortune film was also manufactured by Polaroid). If you are lucky enough to find some expired film on EBAY and e-stores some of it is affordable (price is determined by the expiration date on the film) but according to the sellers you are purchasing at your own risk - it may work or it may not. You may also find some film that has not gone so far past the expiration date that it won't work. You will pay a premium for this film but, of course, eventually with time no "instant photo" film for this camera will be stable enough to "make pictures". Yes, I did buy some film which expired in October 2006 just to use the camera before I threw it away. Could not in all conscience give it as a gift knowing the price and availability of the film (which was what I was thinking of doing BEFORE I called Polaroid). Will it work? I won't know until I receive the camera and film in the next week or so. Wish I had more thoroughly researched the film prices before I bid on the camera BUT "who knew?". Had I thought this out, I would have concluded that it is possible to get the same result by printing copies of pictures taken with any camera onto the size label you want your "sticky" photo to be using the free Avery templates which can be downloaded onto your computer. Hope this review helps you to make a more informed decision about this camera than I did.
