The Bottom Line:
Solid and fun to use!
I know when most people think of the brand Polaroid, they don’t really relate to digital cameras. I have had the m737t digital camera for over a year, and I like it quite a bit. It is very easy to use (I am decent with computers and technology). My mom has also used it (she has a minimal technical level with digital technology) and she said it was pretty easy to figure out and work through. She managed to get lots of pictures and even a video her first time out without me!
It is lightweight and not bulky (9.5x6x2cm and weighs 5.29 ounces) with a place for a wrist strap, but by far the best feature of this camera is the large screen on the back for viewing pictures (6x4.5cm), and that it is a touch screen. It makes for quick deleting of pictures so you can try again, and great for showing others what you just took a picture of.
It takes great pictures at many different megapixel settings (7.0 megapixels), which is great for when you don’t have a lot of room on your memory card. (It also has an internal memory but its not much space). It has many different specialty settings that take great pictures of fireworks, sunsets, panoramic, black and white, and sepia. It also has face tracking to keep people in focus and I would recommend reading the manual or just taking it out and trying all the settings. Many require you to hold it still while the longer shutter speed can take a great picture of what you want. Also sometimes the printed pictures develop a little darker than what shows on the digital screen, so I would recommend setting your screen a little darker and then you know what you’re getting and if you have to retake the picture with a flash, etc.
The zoom is ok, I have seen better on other cameras. Also, once it goes into digital zoom, the pictures are blurry and its worthless to get them developed. Not too bad for webpages/digital pictures. I would recommend taking the picture without the digital zoom and then zoom in on your photo editing computer program.
The video function works well, though you shouldn’t purchase this if video is your primary focus. The microphone is great for capturing the voice of the person holding the camera, but not necessarily what you are taping if its far away.
As far as battery life, it has a rechargeable battery that is special for this camera. This is a pro and a con, because I have had other cameras that use AA batteries and they die very fast, BUT whenever you need your camera to work you can run to any local store. If you do not have the charging dock with you for this camera you are stuck.
Not wanting to admit, I drop my cell phone, purse and camera quite a bit. This camera has taken a beating and has never stopped working or need to be repaired. Pretty sturdy.
All in all, for the price it is right now, this is a fairly advanced camera and one that is perfect for a first time digital camera user who is pretty tough on their hand held electronics. Also great for kids and teenagers.
