This is my first subwoofer, chosen after months of research. It is everything I had expected, and more than. I never realized that so much sound is missing when listening without a speaker dedicated to reproducing bass sound.
One warning... like those bass speakers one hears in cars, this speaker will vibrate your house. I borrowed the "Star Wars II" DVD and bought the "Batman, the Beginning" DVD just to see what sounds I had been missing. OH, MY ! ! ! I thought the house was going to move off the foundation... and that at normal voice/speaking volume.
Because this subwoofer is hidden behind a 57" Hitachi rear-project TV (excellent picture, btw), the remote and interaction is worthless to me. I just set the subwoofer to auto-on, and the default settings. This works very well for me. I was concerned that the downward firing (into carpeting) speaker would lose something; apparently not. I treated this pretty much as a plug-and-play.
At $385 (check via www.amazon.com, among others), this isn't cheap. But you will appreciate the money well spent.
