The Bottom Line:
Do not buy this machine. You WILL have problems and Apple will give you the run around
In November of 2005 I sent my powerbook in for Apple Repair (D6007969) due to the fact the lower memory slot would not see any memory installed in that slot. Apple repaired it by replacing the logic board under warranty.
Just recently (September 06) I now have the same problem again. Lower memory not seen.
I called apple since I found an article on their website announcing a repair extension program for this problem. The extension is for Powerbook G4's bought less than 2 years ago. My powerbook falls in this range and should be repaired. However the person at apple who I talked to says my powerbook serial number does not fall in this range and they would not repair it under this program.
So my questions to him were...
Why did you repair it once before for this problem? My serial number is not suppose to have this problem.
Who says the logic board they replaced in it back in Nov of 2005 did not have this problem? The logic board I have in my powerbook now is in NO way associated with any serial number range!
All I got from Apple was the run around. I explained all this to a so called manager at Apple service by the name of David. He would not give me his last name.
The Apple call in case number is 68471461.
He refused to fix it under this program.
This is the END of my purchasing any Apple product after buying only Apple computers since the mac512 back in the 80's
