NICE ROBOTICS BUT BUGGY PRINTER DRIVER
Pros
Clever robotics and a very nice printer makes CD/DVDs neat and professional.
Cons
Buggy printer driver crashes Windows XP. No response from tech support about problem.
Recommended it?
No
The Bottom Line:
I wouldn't recommend until the printer driver is fixed.
I have a Primera Bravo II CD/DVD duplicator. When it works, it works very good. The robotics work very well and the printing on the disk is very nice. One especially nice feature is queueing, which allows you to start lots of different jobs and have them run automatically to completion in order. It feels pretty incredible to pull a finished disk out of the output tray---beautifully printed from edge to edge.
All of that said, however, the printer driver is buggy and crashes my otherwise perfectly solid Windows XP system quite often. Sometimes WinXP reports an unknown driver error, but usually, it just locks up hard requiring a power-down. It always happens at the same point in the printing process. And, ever since installing the Primera Bravo II, my system has a memory leak, which requires me to reboot every couple of days to prevent my 1.5 GB of memory from running low. These problems occur so often that it doesn't seem like they would be all that hard to fix. I have called and emailed Primera tech support at least 4 times about this problem and have never received a single acknowledgement that they have even received my complaint, let alone are working on it. I can't recommend this until the driver is fixed.
