Protron PD-800 DVD Player

I purchased the unit for children and was very satisfied with the performance and the very low price. Is is also attractive and compact. It required going through the setup menu where screen format(4:3 or 16:9), video type(NTSC or PAL), language, etc. was selected. Progressive scan is selected with a click on the remote and performed well. The manual suggests that it can be plugged into a-c power ranging from 110 to 240 volts, 50 or 60 Hertz but I did not test this feature. My power is 120v, 60 Hertz. My TV is 4:3 NTSC. I couldn't verify PAL without a PAL formatted DVD and PAL TV receiver.

The player is full featured with the subtitle functions, angle, chapter step, fast forward/reverse etc. I did have to disable the angle function by going to the setup menu to easily play DVDs that did not have the multi-angle feature.

The player interface includes component, composite, s-video, analog audio and digital coax audio. I could not find optical digital audio as suggested but it doesn't matter in my installation.
