We had no problem with sound or picture until it stopped functioning

It does not play DVD-R or -RW. It only lasted 4 months.

We bought this product despite warnings from others on the net. It worked well through the warranty period (90 days). Then, true to the experience of others, it began displaying "wrong disc" messages. I thought (reading others' comments) this was only on some discs. I was wrong. Not a single disc we own will work on it (the all used to work). I paid $80 for it and that comes out to $20 a month for this DVD player. Not worth it.
