INEXPENSIVE SUBWOOFERS
Pros
Great bass, large cone excursion and a true poly cone.
Cons
A true sub, designed for bass output only.

The Bottom Line:
Nice looking small subwoofers. Remind me a lot of the original INFINITY speakers of years past.
I recently purchased a used car and wanted to upgrade the speakers. The originals were dry rotted and 'buzzing'.
The rear deck of my car, a VW, used component type woofers and tweeters, with the woofers on the deck and the tweeters mounted below the rear window and facing into the cabin.
So, I wanted to use nice subs, but I was limited to 6.5 inches.
The Pyramid subwoofers are excellent in such cases. They feature extended 'bump plates' for improved bass output, heavy ribbed foam rubber surrounds and vented pole pieces as well as a true poly cone.
These speakers are real subwoofers, not regular woofers. There is a difference. Regular small woofers usually will play well into the midrange and even sometimes the highs. This woofer will not. It plays the deep bass and some mid bass and very low midrange and that's it. Don't use it in place of a regular 6.5 inch woofer or you'll be greatly disappointed.
The cone is a genuine poly cone, not a coated or treated cone. The center cap is flatened, much like many larger subwoofers.
Cone travel is quite good. These woofers can really pump the bass. I am able to drive them with just my head unit which delivers only about 17 watts per channel RMS.
I bought these woofers for about $11 each on-line, so even with shipping, a pair was barely over $30. You can't find that kind of price on a quality component type subwoofer in any of the local stores.
I also used a pair of these subs in my wife's Saab, which features a factory subwoofer amplifier and 6.5 inch subwoofers in her front doors. The bass from these subs, powered by the external amp, is just amazing. I can hear her coming from down the street.
At only $30, you can add a pair of tweeter speakers and have component quality speaker systems without burning a huge hole in your pocket.
Just remember these are true subs. Their cut-off frequency is much lower than that of standard woofers.
These woofers come as-is, with no speaker wire, no connectors and no grilles. You are only buying the speaker itself.
