Pros Great design; very practical and usable.
Cons Some map data is more than a year old.
Recommended it? Yes

What makes the Quest worth writing about is that it really works; it does what you expect it to do and more. And the great software and well designed hardware package is combined into a tool/gadget/instrument (take your pick) that is truly practical and easy to use.

I've dreamed of... Read full review »

Slow, stubborn and inaccurate... what more could you want?

Pros It is small enough to carry with you
Cons Read the review. Slow, stubborn, inaccurate
Recommended it? No

First the slowness: When I first received the Quest 2, I thought it was a little slow. Now I know it is. Route calculation could be measured with a sundial. When you are off route and it needs to recalculate, you often get lost again since it takes so long to recalculate and you thus miss the new... Read full review »

A great little unit!

Pros portable, an incredible amount of information, very accurate
Cons manual could be better if it showed the menu trees, it's ok though
Recommended it? Yes

As a Professional Land Surveyor, GPS is something I have studied in some detail. I wanted a unit that would guide me from job to job instead of having a map on my lap and blowing all around while I'm driving. The Garmin quest II is ideal for that.
I got my unit and plugged it in the cigarette... Read full review »

Pros Small, portable, user-friendly, voice prompts, save locations, vias, detours.
Cons Satellite aquisition bad around tall buildings, voice prompts may take getting used to.
Recommended it? Yes

While you are driving, haven't you always wanted someone to tell you exactly when to turn, exactly what time you are going to arrive, help you around traffic jams, and tell you where the closest ATM, Restaurant, or gas station is?

I have been waiting for years for Gamin to release a product... Read full review »

Pros Price, all accessories are included, very functional!
Cons The suction cup mount bounces when off road.
Recommended it? Yes

Normally I sleep while flying. Recently, I had too much caffeine and started looking through the Southwest Airlines magazine. They had a list of indispensable items that are need for business travelers. One of them was a hand crank phone charger that I bought, then there were breath strips, which I... Read full review »

Dual-purpose GPS

bywd6cmu Oct 10, 2004

Pros Shirt-pocket size, readable display, large memory, long battery life, entire US road map...
Cons Non-standard power and mount, no saved tracks.
Recommended it? Yes

I've had a Garmin GPS-V for a long time and thought it was a very nice compromise between being big enough for car navigation and small enough for hiking. However, there were a couple of weaknesses in the GPS-V I'd hoped Garmin would fix. One was the small memory size, which could only hold maps... Read full review »

Pros Two Preemies-35lb toddler. Baby next to skin, close to center of gravity. Comfortable,...
Cons Takes 4-5 times wrapping to feel confident in your wrapping skills.
Recommended it? Yes

My moby wrap experience started when I saw my neighbor carrying her baby in one. I'd never seen one before & I chased her down to find out more. It is comfortable and ergonomic for both the mother and baby. I've now tried both the original moby wrap and the moby-D and am a fan of both. See my... Read full review »

Lots of features for the price compared to their more costly 2600 series.

Pros Comes with everything: charger, mount, City Select CD, cigarette cord with speaker...
Cons Small memory at 115 megs for California maps. Built-in battery may be costly to replace.
Recommended it? Yes

For something that can fit in your pocket, this little thing does a lot. Nice that you can take it off the mount and use it for navigating out of the car while running on is internal battery. The display is very bright when the backlight is on (when the cig's power cord is plugged in) and even on... Read full review »

An amazingly small vehicular navigator

bybramfrank Nov 6, 2005

Pros Small size, huge tracklog, waterproof, 20 hour battery operation
Cons Tiny display, flimsy antenna, PC mapping not included
Recommended it? Yes

I love gadgets and I have specific affinity for high-tech equipment. For some reason I've been playing with many different GPS units lately (in spite of a recent head-on collision between one of my motorcycles and a car traveling in the other direction). It helps that one of my riding buddies is a... Read full review »
